The final days

I'm down to my last two days (well, one day and about 10 minutes to be fair) at my current employment.

11 1/2 years go pretty quick when you're 40, I must say.

It's absolutely weird to be without a position here, but the economy has absolutely killed this place and I'm more than ready to find my next "dare to be great" moment out there.

Wish me Luck:-)

Week 6 Football Picks

Obviously I was 3-1 on my "locks" last weekend, if you read week 5 picks. For week 6 I love the following NFL Locks:
San Diego - 6 1/2 @ Miami... I think they win by 2 scores in this one.
Tennessee - 3 @ Baltimore... Once again, the margin is 2 scores for the Titans.
Indy - 3 @ Houston... I think I mentioned 2 scores before, love the Colts off the bye week.
Minnesota + 3 @ New Orleans... Adrian Peterson goes for 200 plus on that very oridinary Saints defense on Monday Night.

OK, here's my picks for the football pool for the week, in case you wondered:
Arizona, California, Stanford, Colorado, USC, Ohio State, Nebraska, LA Lafayette, UCLA, Tennessee, NYG, Phi, SD, DET, Indy, Cincy, Buffalo, NE, Jax, Minnesota and the tie breaker is 54.

Good luck!

Week 5 Football Pool Picks

OK, so there's no question to my picks being my picks, not that anyone has questioned them, other than Dr. Doug & Skippy who I've sent emails of my picks (I'm 10-2 in picking 4 NFL locks so far this year) but they apparently, "didn't get those emails"... whatever.

Now, I'm on here with my 4 NFL locks this week.
1. Take the Eagles, laying 3 points at Chicago. I think the Eagles win this one, with or without Westbrook by at least 7.
2. Take the Chargers, laying 7 points at Oakland. The Chargers may win this by 20 or more, but will at least win this one by more than 7.
3. The Titans are as good as advertised and they will get to Gus Ferotte and punish the Vikings this week, take the Titans laying 3 at home to the Vikings.
4. My final "lock" of the week is the Buccaneers laying 1 point. They will defeat Aaron Rodgers and the Pack in week #4.

OK, now onto the football pool. I took all favorites this week with the exception of the Horned Frogs of TCU, the Chiefs (Don't ask, I just have a feeling), the Cardinals over the "not yets" and the Browns getting 3 1/2 against the Bengals, because I think this game will be decided by a field goal, by someone and getting 3 1/2 is my reason for taking the Browns.

So, USC, FSU, Fresno St, ND, Tex, Oregon, TCU, LSU, Wa, KC, NO, AZ, Tennessee, TB, Cle, SD, Bufalo, Dal, Phi, & Pit... tie breaker is 33 for the Monday Night game.

Greatest Pam Tillis Song

I've been thinking for awhile about doing a large blog, post or even a book on the greatest song a particular artist has ever recorded.

For Pam Tillis I think it's easily The River And The Highway from her album, All This Love. I am listening to it now and I can only think, what great sound, depth and warmth... my hairs on my arms are still up.

Hopefully that will get you to the right place, and if so, enjoy.

The Dark Knight

OK, we went to see the latest Batman installment this weekend and I have to say, that it's quite violent, quite aimed at adults and not nearly as good as people have said.

It's not terrible, don't get me wrong and if they give Heath Ledger the Academy Award for his portrayal as the Joker, I won't even argue, but one great role in a movie doesn't make the movie itself great.

Christian Bale is poor as Batman. He's not likable nor suave enough to play the role in my opinion. George Clooney was perfect as Batman, it's just that the script was never up to his talents in my honest opinion.

The length of the movie should never cause one to check their watch numerous times if the movie's really that good. I think, upon further review, a 75-minute Dark Knight would have been much better. Have a villain, have a plot and stick to it without adding new layers 105 minutes in.

You can agree or disagree as you'd like, but for my money and as the father of an 8-year old super-hero junkie. I cannot allow my son to see the Dark Knight due to tension and excessive violence and I won't watch the movie again just because Ledger was incredible as the Joker, albeit against a very boring Batman.
